Winter Wonderland
Ski the
slopes or enjoy a relaxing retreat fireside
As colder weather overtakes the mountains, the views change from the
softness of leaves and ferns to the architectural wonder that is winter time.
Call me crazy, but I love the winter in these hills. You can see the
backbone of the mountains. The bare branches of the trees dusted in an
early morning frost are starkly beautiful against a winter sky. I love the
way the leaves crunch underfoot with a brittleness unique to winter, and the way
your breath hangs in the air for an eternal moment. I love the little
icicles that form along the edge of the stream. And nothing can keep me
inside during the first snow of the season. Look up: the sky is
dancing! And the late season snows - you know, the ones with the great big
fat lazy flakes - create such a hush around you, that time stands still and the
whole world is yours and yours alone...
