Meet
The Innkeepers:
Larry & Sandee Wright |
|
We call ourselves 'Inngineers' now
that we've left the corporate engineering world behind in favor of
life in these ancient mountains. The Appalachians beckoned,
and we heeded their call! The dream that was Timberwolf Creek
became a reality on July 4, 1998 - our Independence Day - and we've
been honored and pleased to host a myriad of wonderful folks ever
since. Outside the inn, Larry stays busy helping folks with
their computers and enjoying photography, and I (Sandee) have fun
building websites, and working in the gardens. (Larry has fun watching
me work in the gardens. I know I'm smiling in the picture, but
that's because a lovely idea has occurred to me, about what to do
with that bucket of compost...) |

Meet
the Innkeepers: Peter & Karen Hession |
|
Well,
welcome to the most unusual bed and breakfast in these 50 states!
Let us, Karen and myself (Peter) introduce ourselves. Karen and I
worked together our entire married life. Karen says some 465 years
to be exact... but says I, we have been happy for 6 months at least.
We retired from our last business June of 2000, and
built the Ranch. We are both from the Chicago area. I came by way of
Japan, and goodness knows I am great in a sushi parlor! Karen's
family is from Russia and mine came direct from Ireland. (However,
Karen kissed the Blarney Stone.) We have traveled our entire lives
on business and what can I say about it?? We wanted to create
something new and different and fun and relaxing and interesting -
get the picture? Voila - the Ranch! |

Smokey
Shadows Lodge
Built of Native Stone and Hand-hewn
Chestnut Logs |
The
porch, running the full length of the lodge, is filled with rocking
chairs. An old porch swing has a prominent location. The view from
the porch is breathtaking, and many people come to the porch in
slippers and bath robes with cups of tea or coffee to watch the sun
rise. Inside the lodge, exposed beams and wormy chestnut walls
dominate. The great room has a massive stone fireplace and time
polished hardwood floors.
The main lodge has twelve rooms, cozy and rustic,
with log-beam ceilings and stone-log walls. Each has a private bath.
No two rooms are alike. Several have feather beds, and are
accented with heirloom quilts and curtains.

Meet
the Innkeepers: Bud & Ginger Shinn |
|
As
a child, Ginger would travel from Miami to Maggie Valley each year
for vacation. Hikes in the surrounding woods, cookouts and bonfires,
home cooked meals, scenic drives through the Smoky Mountains
along the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway only minutes from the
lodge, square dancing in the valley and great souvenir shopping were
all cherished memories.
Over the years, Ginger and her husband Bud, along
with their children, would continue to carry on the Smokey Shadows
tradition. Until the day came that Ginger and her family decided to
make Smokey Shadows their permanent home and have been reliving
childhood memories every day since.
Now, the Shinns dedicate their lives to creating
those same memories for all who visit! |
