BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY BLOOM SCHEDULE

Many of these same plants find a home here at Timberwolf Creek, and follow a similar blooming pattern.  You'll find the great rhododendrons -pink, like you see in the picture on the left,, and covering our mountainside in a cascade of white blooms.  We are also home to mountain laurel, flame azaleas, white azaleas, dogwood, and soaring tulip trees.

A variety of oriental lilies and day lilies (including Moonlit Snow, my favorite!), tulips, crocus, iris, daffodils, buttercups, blooming hostas, starflowers, roses, sweet william, and our annual planting of pansies and impatiens bloom here.  We've also planted rose of sharon, gladiolas, lilacs, hyacinth, peonies, chinese trumpet lilies, casa blancas and stargazers.  And eleventy-bazillion lilies.  The peach and plum trees bloom in spring.

Because much of this 8-acre property is pristine woodland, the observant will find trillium, lady's slipper, jack-in-the-pulpit, columbine, goat's beard (false & true!), solomon's seal, asters, joe-pye, bee balm, trout lilies, and cleome.  The understory of the mountainside is covered in mountain laurel and 'wolf laurel' (white great rhododendron, which has it's own special story).

Timberwolf Creek Bed & Breakfast
and Luxury Cabin Rentals
are situated three miles from the Parkway entrance at Milepost 456.

We believe this last stretch of the Parkway is the most spectacular, with high elevations, long range vistas of mountains stacked in shades of blue, and the ethereal mist of The Great Smoky Mountains.  It will take your breath away!

The bloom peak occurs within the dates indicated. Bloom peaks along the Parkway in Virginia are usually earlier than in North Carolina due to lower elevation. The selected locations are referenced to Parkway milepost markers beginning with Milepost 0 at Rockfish Gap in Virginia and ending at Milepost 469 in North Carolina.
